5.3 Legislative and Policy Reviews Policy and legislative reviews and changes to those areas that discriminate and have a negative impact on the LGBT communities and our families was brought up consistently in the streams. The various systems in place and the policies and procedures that support those systems were originally created under limited assumptions around gender identity, sexual orientation and families. As a result, the policies and procedures were not designed to serve the LGBT communities and in many cases are either non-existent, inadequate, or discriminatory. Creating inclusive policies and procedures that address our communities needs will require a conscious examination and review. |
